Во-первых, герой книги - Иуда Искариот. Он предатель. Он продал Иисуса Христа за тридцать серебряников. Он - самый худший из всех самых худших людей, когда-либо живших на этой планете. Можно ли относиться к нему иначе? Нельзя! Леонид Андреев искушает нас. Это неправильно. И как-то даже совестно читать что-то иное… Как - Иуда Искариот - хороший?! Бред! Бред! Не может быть!
Впрочем, есть и вторая причина, почему «Иуда Искариот» Леонида Андреева так незаслуженно, а может быть даже и намеренно забыт всеми. Она спрятана глубже, и она еще страшнее… Представьте на секунду, что Иуда - хороший человек. И даже не просто хороший, а более того - первый среди лучших, ближайший ко Христу. Задумайтесь… Страшно. Страшно, потому что не понятно, кто тогда мы, если он хороший?!
Да, когда в произведении звучат такие вопросы, ему трудно рассчитывать на место в хрестоматии и хотя бы на пару часов школьной программы. Не нужно.
